Our live mussel orders start in the pristine waters of Down East Maine, not from tanks or coolers. We harvest, process and purge on the open ocean to preserve the freshness these prized shellfish deserve. Available as live (in the shell) mussels, as well as frozen meats.

We currently work with wholesalers across the country to sell our mussels to restaurants and seafood markets. We do not currently sell our mussels direct to consumers via e-commerce but they are available for purchase at local markets & to enjoy at local restaurants.

As co-founder of Pemaquid Mussel Farms, Carter Newell has put his Ph.D. in marine biology to work for more than four decades. His study of mussel biology and coastal marine ecosystems has made him one of today’s leading shellfish aquaculture scientists.
